Roger Rinker, pastor

From the moment he stepped foot on these church grounds, he felt at home. The Spirit is alive here, and the love and welcome from our congregation is almost tangible. As our church leader, Roger Rinker extends warmth to all.
He grew up in Maryland, in the outskirts of Silver Spring, and attended the University of Maryland, receiving degrees in business and management—as well as electronic technology. He had a promising career at IBM and had settled down with his wife, Ann, to grow his family. So how did he go from IBM tech-head to leading a Lutheran church?

“I give 100 percent of myself in whatever I do,” Roger admits. As he contemplated his career advancement at IBM, he realized the sacrifices he would be making of his time and spirit. “It didn’t seem right to give 100 percent to anyone but the Lord.” He left his job, sold his house, packed up his family and headed to Gettysburg Seminary to become a pastor.
When you see Roger on Sundays, you’ll understand why God called him. From his smiles to his tears, Roger is genuine and sincere in his love for the Lord. He’s excited about what Calvary has to offer, and his vision reflects that excitement.
