Backpack Sunday

All students returning to school -- remember to bring your backpacks and come up front during the service for a blessing.  "Big kids" can come up front with their briefcases and courier bags!

Book Talk

Our next book talk will feature For One More Day by Mitch Albom. It is the story of a man who gets the chance to spend one more day with his mother, who died 8 years earlier. This story is one of redemption and one man's struggle to deal with his ghosts as it takes readers to a place between life and death. The book talk will take place on Monday, Aug 23rd, at the home of Joan Carback. More details are available on the bulletin board in Kimberlin Hall. Questions? Contact Patti Cannaday.

High School Pool Party/Lock-in and Parent Meeting

Miss Debbie and Miss Kelley will be hosting this event at Miss Debbie’s starting at 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 21st. A signup sheet will be posted in the Narthex for food donations. This is for all incoming high school youth and current high schoolers. On Sunday, August 22nd, we will drag our tired bodies to Contemporary Service. Come out and socialize. Parents will be separated after dinner for a short meeting before they go home. Siblings are welcomed but need to come home with their parents.

Rally Day

Join us for Rally Day, the exciting kickoff for the new Sunday School year

Church Basement Ladies Dinner Theatre

Dinner Theatre Trip: Join us on a trip to Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 30th! We will depart from church on an Eyre motor coach at 9:30 and return by 6:00 p.m. Cost is $85 which includes a $5 donation to our debt reduction fund. This entertaining play celebrates the women who work tirelessly in the church kitchen to keep stomachs filled and coffee brewing for every important event from weddings to potluck suppers (remind you of some folks at Calvary????). Reserve you ticket by contacting Ellen Kilby or signing up at the Scrip table in Kimberlin Hall. Payment to Calvary Lutheran Church is due as soon as possible!

Happy Helpers

Members of Calvary regularly travel to Baltimore to help serve lunch to Baltimore's homeless.  We rely heavily on your donations of juice boxes and boxed raisins. The number of people being served has increased over the last six months and we are now asked to bring enough to serve 250 people. Monthly donations of 250 juice boxes and 250 boxed raisins are needed, please, and can be placed in the collection baskets in the Fellowship Hall.
